Online journalism research fellowship in London
In Zusammenarbeit mit Polis, dem Journalismus Think-Tank der London School of Economics and Political Science, bietet die EBU erneut ein prestigeträchtiges, einmonatiges Online Journalism Research Fellowship in London an. Bewerbungsschluss ist der 27. März 2015. Im Folgenden der Ausschreibungstext:
We are once again partnering with Polis, the journalism think-tank of the London School of Economics and Political Science, to offer EBU members a prestigious online journalism research fellowship in London. We are offering the fellowship on a competitive basis.The month-long fellowship is open to journalists who wish to carry out a short piece of original research into an aspect of contemporary news media practice. The subject should be related to online, mobile or social media with a particular focus on how media change is impacting on editorial, ethical or political aspects of journalism.Application Process:Fellowship applications and supporting materials must be received by Friday 27th March 2015. All applications must be submitted in English and must consist of the following:
- A completed application form;
- An abstract of around 500 words that sets out the issue you would like to address;
- A study proposal that describes your methodology and outlines what you would do in London;
- A curriculum vitae;
- A signed letter of recommendation from your Editor-in-Chief, or Head of International Relations, that testifies to the significance of the proposed project and the applicant's ability to carry it out.
Eurovision Online & Social Media will draw up a short-list of candidates and submit it to LSE Polis to make a final decision. We will contact the successful candidate by Friday 20th March and make an announcement shortly afterwards. In October or November 2015, the EBU-Polis Journalism Fellow will be provided with a desk at the LSE, in London, and will begin work under the supervision of the Polis director, Professor Charlie Beckett. She or he will have access to Media and Communications Department lectures and the LSE library, as well as all Polis and LSE events.She or he will be helped to connect with news organisations, journalists and media researchers in London. The fellow will also have the opportunity to interview any relevant LSE Media and Communications staff. The research fellow will be invited to give a research seminar during her or his stay in London and will also be expected to participate as a speaker in at least one EBU conference in 2015.The fellow will be expected to write a paper of at least 6000 words that will be published by the EBU. The deadline for completion of the report will be 1st January 2016.The EBU will reimburse up to a total of GBP 500 in travel expenses accrued in the UK for research purposes.
